Scout promoted to rank of corporal in Colonial Army.
Junior leaders are key to a well run jamboree troop. Boys who become junior leaders have the opportunity to work with fellow Scouts and adult leaders in a new and exciting environment. Many young men have added a beneficial dimension to their jamboree experience by stepping up and taking leadership positions.
The senior patrol leader, assistant senior patrol leader, quartermaster and scribe are not assigned to patrols. They have their own tents. Patrols host these junior leaders for meals on a rotating basis. All other junior leaders are assigned to patrols and have regular patrol responsibilites in addition to their junior leader duties.
All participating Scouts are eligible to become jamboree troop junior leaders. Interested Scouts will be invited to interview with the jamboree Scoutmasters. Scoutmasters will select junior leaders for their troops from those boys interviewed. Each troop will have a full compliment of junior leaders as described in the article Junior Leader Duties.
All Scouts attending the jamboree are encouraged to participate in National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT). Jamboree troop junior leaders are especially urged to complete the training. Greater Yosemite Council will offer NYLT again in June, 2010 at Camp John Mensinger.
