Wood Badge Trained

Donald Sonnefeld - Scoutmaster

Mr. Sonnefeld currently serves as a Unit Commissioner and as a Committee Member for Troop 86 in Patterson. He is on the Greater Yosemite Council Executive Board, and chairs the Council Risk Management Committee . He earned the Cub Scout Arrow of Light and is an Eagle Scout. As a youth, he was an Explorer Post President and Order of the Arrow Chapter Chief. He went to Philmont Scout Ranch three times and attended the 1985 National Jamboree. Over the past twenty years he has served in numerous adult leadership positions in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Venturing, and Exploring. He was presented the District Award of Merit in 2003.

Mr. Sonnefeld is a Health and Safety Manager for Penske Logistics. He actively supports many community organizations. He volunteers with the Patterson High School swim team and has served as President of the Patterson Pirates Swim Team. He was a member of the 2008 Sober Graduation Night committee. In the LDS Church he has served youth as a Primary Teacher and as Young Mens' President.

Mr. Sonnefeld has been married to his wife, Rinda for 18 years. They have two sons (one is an Eagle Scout) and two daughters. He looks forward to attending the 2010 National Jamboree with his son and celebrating the Boy Scout centennial with the cream of America's youth.

Pat McCaa - 1st Assistant Scoutmaster

McCaa_Pat-200x251Mr. McCaa currently serves as the Scoutmaster for Central United Methodist Church's Troop 12 in Stockton. Mr. McCaa is looking forward to sharing the 2010 National Jamboree with his son and his young and not-as-young friends from Greater Yosemite Council and throughout our great nation. He was active as a youth in both Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts in which he earned Life Scout rank. As an adult, he has served in a variety of Cub Scout and Boy Scout leadership positions including Cubmaster, District Committee Chair and Council Vice President of Endowment. Mr. McCaa is Wood Badge trained and has served on staff for a variety of adult leader training programs including Wood Badge and Philmont Training Center faculty. He has received numerous Scout leader recognitions including the District Award of Merit and The Silver Beaver award.

Mr. McCaa is both an entomologist and horticulturalist. He is completing his 22nd year of employment with Del Monte Foods where he is Senior Manger for Seed and Agricultural Services. His community service includes active leadership in his family's church, Central United Methodist Church. He currently is completing his second year as secretary for the School Site Council at his family's Lincoln Unified elementary school.

Mr. McCaa has been happily married for 19 years to his wife, Christie, who has previously served as Big Valley District's Cub Day Camp Director. They have a son, Conor, a Star Scout, and a daughter, Clare.

Tony Tito - 2nd Assistant Scoutmaster

tito_tonyMr. Tito currently serves as Assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 515 in Tracy. He looks forward to attending the 100th Anniversary Jamboree with his son and several other Scouts from his son's Troop. As a youth he earned the Arrow of Light award in Cub Scouts and went on to earn the rank of Eagle Scout in Boy Scouts. Some of his Scouting highlights include attending the 75thAnniversary Jamboree in 1985and trekking Philmont Scout Ranch. He is in the process of becoming a Shot Gun Merit Badge counselor.

Mr. Tito is a piping foreman for Air Systems Inc., San Jose. He coaches baseball for 11-12 year olds with Tracy Babe Ruth League. He serves as a volunteer for the Tracy Unified School District.

Mr. Tito has been married for 15 years to his wife, Angie, who is employed with the Tracy Unified School District. His son, Ryan, earned his Cub Scout Arrow of Light and is working towards his Eagle Scout rank.

Kyle Vander Ploeg - 3rd Assistant Scoutmaster

Kyle Vander PloegMr. Vander Ploeg currently serves as First Assistant Senior Patrol Leader of Troop 515 in Tracy, California. Mr. Vander Ploeg is looking forward to helping provide Scouts who attend the 2010 Jamboree the same fun experience he had in 2005! He currently holds the rank of Life Scout and has been active member of Troop 515 for six years. He has served as Patrol Leader and Chaplain's Aide in the past. He is also active in Venturing Crew 515 and currently serves as the Crew's Secretary. He has also held the positions of President and Vice President in the Crew. Mr. Vander Ploeg has completed several junior leader training programs including National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT).

Mr. Vander Ploeg is currently enrolled in Tracy High School as a junior. He is a member of the First Presbyterian Church. He provides music for his community through the Tracy High Madrigals and is actively involved in drama productions. He is President of the Little Devils Youth Archery League. He is secretary of Writer's Block.

Mr. Vander Ploeg is the son of Scott and Cindy Vander Ploeg. He enjoys being active in Scouting with his entire family.
