Kevin Perry attended the 2005 National Scout Jamboree and provides some advice to Scouts planning to attend the 2010 Jamboree.

Interviews mark the true beginning of the 2010 National Jamboree. It is the first time Scouts get to meet some of the Jamboree Troop Adult Leaders. It is also a time for Scouts to express interest in serving as Jamboree Troop Junior Leaders. The next several months will bring a variety of learning experiences. Scouts should take advantage of the many new opportunities, challenges and adventures that lie ahead.

Kevin Perry, a member of the Greater Yosemite Council 2005 Jamboree contingent, will make regular appearances on the Jamboree website to keep you informed about what to expect.

Get Ready for the Interview

  • Interviews can be stressful. Watch the "Guide on the Side" video to help feel better prepared and more comfortable.
  • Scouts who would like to be considered as Jamboree Troop Junior Leaders, should bring a letter expressing that interest. Scouts may write their own letter or complete the Junior Leader Interest Form. Check out the Junior Leaders section of our website for more information about available positions. Remember each Jamboree Troop will have a full compliment of Junior Leaders. That means there will be three Senior Patrol Leaders, three Assistant Senior Patrol Leaders, three Quartermasters, etc.
  • There are two forms (Media Release and Statement of Understanding) that Scouts and parents must sign before the interview. Parent who do not plan to accompany their sons to the interview should print and sign the forms ahead of time so they can be presented at the interview check in.
  • Scouts should wear the most complete uniform available to them. Hats are not to be worn as ID photos will be taken before the interview.

  • Scouts who have a conflict with their assigned interview time must call Sara Heitz at the Council Office, (209) 545-6320 x 103 to reschedule. If there is an emergency or illness the day of the interview, call the phone number that will be sent in an E-mail message.
