In the past, Jamboree Troop Historians have taken pictures, made scrapbooks and written articles for the local papers. That part isn't changing. What is changing is HOW the job gets done. Historians from the Greater Yosemite Council will take pictures...but the pictures will be digital pictures and videos. They will keep a scrapbook...but the scrapbook will be on our jamboree website. They will write articles...but the articles will be published as part of an Internet blog. They will use the Greater Yosemite Council Jamboree Website, YouTube, Twitter, Skype and other Internet services to spread the good news about Boy Scouts and the 2010 National Jamboree.
Video Cameras
You may be thinking some Scouts don't know how to do those things. That is why Greater Yosemite Council will offer a two-day class this summer. The class will teach everything Historians need to know about photography, videography, writing, and Internet safety.
Each Historian will also get his very own Flip Video camera to record his journey to the jamboree. What's more, our Historians will join a team from around the world who will also help with our website. The team is made up of talented youth and professional artist, announcers, computer programmers and more helping make this a fun learning experience.
Auditions
This video was the Call for Auditions made by the Greater Yosemite Council Jamboree International Website Team.
Twelve Scouts from the Greater Yosemite Council jamboree contingent have already submited video auditions . Five of these Scouts will be selected to receive the Flip Video cameras and become Troop Historians. The other Scouts will be invited to attend the summer training sessions and hopefully contribute to the website too! These additional Scouts will be Home Town News Correspondents. Unfortunately, we won't be able to provide the Home Town News Team with video camereas...unless there is someone who would like to donate some additional Flip Cameras! Contact
